One thing to worry about when moving from the South to the North is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). One really good way to help with that or even just to make your college life better is getting a pet. A pet is a furry little companion that you can cuddle with and will, without a doubt, make you feel better. Most colleges do not let pets in the dorms unless they are certified as seeing eye animals or emotional support animals. At Evergreen the rules for the dorms are fish in a 10-gallon tank or smaller. Once moving into the apartment buildings, it is easier to get a pet at school. There are many reasons it is a great idea to get a pet in college. An animal is a great companion. They will always be in your room to listen to your problems. It is something to cuddle with but they are not person size so they do not take up the entire bed. This pet of yours will love you unconditionally no matter what. It is your pet, you take care of them, they take care go you. It is also a good way to stay in shape. Of course, you can not walk your fish. Maybe try to be like Eloise and put that turtle on a leash. There is always that trusty dog that loves to be on a leash and even leash train a cat. More than that, you never have an excuse to get bored. You have this animal that is always in your room ready to play with you. Then once everyone is done playing they are ready to lie next to you while you do your homework and or study.
Reminder: If you do decide to bring a pet into your college life, and are not bringing one from home, please think about rescuing an animal from local animal shelters or rescue centers rather than buying one.
