For this quarter's first project, I had the option to use the scanners or the darkroom enlargers to create my camera-less photos. I decided to work with the darkroom enlargers because I had used the scanners in a previous class and I wanted to do something new. When I first started working on this project, I tried a lot of different objects to see what world best and what did not work at all. When I finished working with all of the different objects, I had three photos that wanted to turn in.
For one of the photos, the only objects I used was my hand. While the timer was counting down for the enlarger, I shook my hand so it was not a still object. This created an effect that made the photo kind of ghostish and some of my fingers disappeared. For the other two photos, I used the same two objects, a clear shower cap, and water. On one of them, I flattened the shower cap and placed on the corner of the paper and then sprayed water on the glass that covered the paper. For the last photo, I put the paper under the glass and then put everything on top of the glass. I filled the shower cap with some water and placed that in the middle then sprayed water on the edges.
When working on this project is did not have any real expectations because this was a learning process. I just wanted to learn how to use the enlarger in a new way and create some photos that I was proud of. I believe that these photos turned out really well and it was a fun process to create the finished products.
