Like many teenagers, I visit Starbucks A LOT. The great thing about my college campus is that both the coffee places are on my way to classes so I always can grab a large white chocolate mocha before Monday morning lectures. The crazy thing that I did this year was I decided to celebrate Lent. I am not religious, I do not do this every year, but every once in a while I decide why not try this, it could be good for me. A little history here, so Mardi Gras today is a huge holiday celebrated in New Orleans. It is a time to drink all day, hang out with family and friends, and have a bag of beads thrown at your face. Historically though Mardi Gras is taken from the day of Carnival, Fat Tuesday, a day for sin and feasting before giving up everything for Lent. Lent is the forty days between Fat Tuesday and Easter. I decided, look, I'm going to give up coffee to be healthier and so my teeth can be whiter. I can do this for lent it is only forty days. Forty days is so much longer without coffee. There are times when I miss living in New Orleans, just a five-minute drive can get me to one out of three of my favorite coffee places. When I was in high school my best friend and I would text each other almost every day to see if the other wanted coffee. For any occasion that included going presents to one, another gift cards to coffee shops were the main idea. I visited Starbucks so much they knew my name and order when I walked in. It is surprising that I am not a gold card holder yet, but one day. The reason probably is because I always forget that I have money on my app, so I never use it. I am one of those coffee drinkers that like the crazy coffee drinks with a lot of sugar in them. I also do not care about the weather, I will drink a hot or cold coffee depending on what I want and not on what it is like outside. I am ready for the day when coffee shops have a delivery service so I can have my coffee in the morning. I want a future where drones bring me my white chocolate mocha, wake me up with coffee when that happens.
